California State Seal Employment Law

California has a number of employee rights that are unique to the state. Some of these rights include:

1. Right to Paid Sick Leave: California employees are entitled to paid sick leave under the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014. This law requires employers to provide a minimum of 24 hours or three days of paid sick leave to employees each year.

2. Right to Breastfeeding Accommodations: California law requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for employees who are breastfeeding. This includes a private, non-bathroom space for breastfeeding or pumping, as well as breaks for breastfeeding as needed.

3. Right to Overtime Pay: California law requires employers to pay overtime to non-exempt employees who work more than 8 hours in a single workday or more than 40 hours in a single workweek. Non-exempt employees are also entitled to double-time pay for work on the seventh consecutive day of work in a single workweek.

4. Right to a Safe and Healthy Workplace: California law requires employers to provide a safe and healthy workplace for their employees. This includes protecting employees from hazardous conditions and providing necessary safety equipment and training.

5. Right to Equal Pay: California law prohibits employers from paying employees of the opposite sex less for the same or substantially similar work. The California Equal Pay Act also prohibits employers from paying employees of a particular race or ethnicity less for the same or substantially similar work.

These are just a few examples of the unique employee rights that are protected under California law. Please contact us if you have any further questions regarding your rights as a California employee or if you think your rights may have been violated.
